The RPH Research Foundation's Research Symposium and Awards Day 2022

The RPH Research Foundation's annual Research Symposium and Awards Day celebrates some of the cutting-edge research that is currently being produced within the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS). The event has been tailored to support and encourage Early and Mid career researchers, while also enabling established clinicians and scientists to showcase their work.

Applications for the RPH Research Foundation's Research Symposium and Awards Day 2022 are now closed.

  • We are now inviting abstracts from Early-Career Researchers, who have undertaken a scientific or clinical research project at the Royal Perth Hospital and/or within the East Metropolitan Health Service within the past 18 months (i.e. 2021 or later).

    All abstracts will be reviewed by an independent Peer Review Panel. The top three abstracts from Early-Career Researchers will be chosen to present their research at the Research Symposium and Awards Day 2022. The presentations will be judged to determine the ‘RPH Research Foundation Early-Career Researcher Award 2022’.

  • We are now accepting abstracts from Mid-Career Researchers. 

    All abstracts will be reviewed by an independent Peer Review Panel. The top three abstracts from Mid-Career Researchers will be chosen to present their research at the Research Symposium and Awards Day 2022. The presentations will be judged to determine the ‘RPH Research Foundation Mid-Career Researcher Award 2022’. 

    This category is for mid-career researchers who have undertaken or completed a scientific or clinical research project conducted at the Royal Perth Hospital and/or within the East Metropolitan Health Service within the past 18 months (i.e. 2021 or later). 

  • We are now accepting abstracts from Student/Post Graduate Researchers.  

    All abstracts will be reviewed by an independent Peer Review Panel. The top three abstracts from Student/Post-graduate Researchers will be chosen to present their research at the Research Symposium and Awards Day 2022. The presentations will be judged to determine the ‘RPH Research Foundation Student Researcher Award 2022’. 

  • This award is to acknowledge the achievements of early-career researchers in the East Metropolitan Health Service who have the best-published papers. 

    Applicants shall submit one research paper in which they are the first (principal) author, that was published (or accepted for publication) as an early-career researcher. 

  • To celebrate Senior Researchers who are helping guide early to mid-career researchers we are accepting nominations for the 2022 Mentorship award. 

    This award acknowledges researchers with a track record in mentoring and fostering scientific creativity and professional career development of Early Career Researchers.

The Bryant Stokes Oration

Our 2022 keynote address will be delivered by:

Professor Judith Finn is the Director of the Prehospital, Resuscitation and Emergency Care Research Unit (PRECRU) in the School of Nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University.

In 2020, Judith was awarded a five year NHMRC Investigator grant entitled "Improving outcomes after cardiac arrest: strengthening the chain of survival."

Judith holds an Adjunct Research Professor position with St John Ambulance Western Australia, and Adjunct Professorial appointments in the School of Medicine at the University of Western Australia (Perth) and the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University (Melbourne).
