Mentorship Award 2024

This award recognises the Senior Researchers dedicated to nurturing and guiding the next generation of researchers, nominated by the early career researchers who they are supporting through their research journey.

The 2024 Mentorship Award was awarded to Dr Meg Harrold

Dr Meg Harrold was nominated on behalf of a collective of early career researchers at Royal Perth Hospital who have benefited from her mentorship. Her nominees shared that Dr Harrold has helped give clinicians opportunities to start their research journey and supported their research projects.

Under her guidance, her team has been awarded two Foundation Nursing and Allied Health Grants. Her passion for research and dedication to improving patient outcomes not only drives her own work but inspires her mentees. Below is a message from one of her nominators:

“Megʼs approachability and willingness to support all students’ ideas make her an ideal candidate for this award. She encourages students to “think outside the box” whilst ensuring that projects are well-scaled and of the highest quality for success. Beyond her own modest achievements, Meg is dedicated to the success of her students, offering us invaluable networking opportunities with experts in the field, both interstate and overseas. Her mentorship goes beyond the expected, often giving up her own time to provide guidance and support. Megʼs selflessness and dedication to her students’ growth truly set her apart and make her very deserving of a mentorship award.” – Nominator Ms Sheldon Walker
