Research Precinct Upgrades: Lobby, Courtyard, Café and Carpark Enhancements

Lobby Upgrade

From late April, the courtyard and glass doors to the Research building will be fenced off to allow construction to commence. Subject to weather conditions, works are expected to continue through to at least the end of July. While some disruption is anticipated, the Research Building will remain accessible during its usual opening hours. Continued access for all users is a key priority throughout the project.

Access to the research facility will temporarily change as construction progresses. These changes will be clearly communicated via email and the Cygnet newsletter. Please follow signage and updates to ensure safe and efficient passage through the precinct during this time.

Once completed, the upgraded lobby will feature improved security measures, contributing to a safer and more secure working environment.

Courtyard Refurbishment

With a clear vision taking shape, planning for the courtyard refurbishment is almost complete. The final design will deliver a flexible and attractive space for all seasons with ample seating to enjoy a fresh coffee and lunch from the onsite café. We are pleased to share a concept image of the intended layout below.

Coffee Shop

We are in advanced discussions with one of Perth’s leading café operators to take up a long-term residency in the research precinct, meaning barista-made coffee will be closer to you than ever before.

Carpark

The carpark works will involve temporary reallocation of car bays to accommodate the carpark expansion. We will be in contact with each lessee to provide a temporary bay in our carpark.

Building works will be carried out by Kardan Construction, an award-winning Perth-based company with a strong commitment to community engagement. While the emphasis remains on project outcomes, it is worth noting that Kardan is a Registered Aboriginal Business and a Supply Nation-certified provider. Their commitment to creating employment and upskilling opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is both meaningful and impactful.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. Please keep an eye out for further updates via email and the Cygnet newsletter, and we look forward to unveiling the new spaces later this year.
