Aboriginal patients who do not wait (DNW) or discharge against medical advice (DAMA) are at high risk of adverse outcomes due to insufficient medical treatment resulting in a worsening condition or death. Patients who leave the hospital against medical advice are at the very least at high risk of readmission which is usually a more complex situation both medically and emotionally. This researcher will work with the Aboriginal community to co-design an approach and provide a method to approach Aboriginal patients that DNW/DAMA in a culturally sensitive and appropriate way and find out the reason behind their decision.
