The world-class researchers at RPH Research Foundation are sharing their knowledge with you.

Our talks cover a range of topics including healthy ageing, food as medicine, and living with pain.

  • Title: Where Diabetes Meets the Eye: New Glucose-Lowering Drugs and their Benefits in Diabetes​
    Speaker: Dr Lakshini Herat

    Join us for an important community health talk on diabetes research, delivered by the RPH Research Foundation’s Career Advancement Fellow Dr Lakshini Herat. Dr Herat is a diabetes researcher with the Dobney Hypertension Centre conducting research in the heart of Perth. With over 1.7 million Australians living with diabetes, it is critical that we understand the disease and explore innovative solutions to improve outcomes for those affected. Dr Herat is conducting a world-first research project that is investigating the potential of new glucose-lowering treatments in preventing diabetic complications in the eye and kidney, and she will be sharing her insights and findings with us. You can have your blood pressure checked for free before the event. This event is brought to you by the RPH Research Foundation and City of Perth Library and is a great opportunity to learn more about diabetes.
