The RPH Research Foundation’s recent Research Symposium and Awards Day was an opportunity to recognise some of the important research currently being conducted. The Foundation also celebrated its 40th anniversary and four decades of funding Western Australian health and medical research.

An Overview of Donbey Hypertension Centre (DHC)

Hypertension remains the biggest killer globally, accounting for more than 10 million deaths every year. DHC conducts high-quality clinical research that aims to better understand the mechanisms that lead to elevated blood pressure and uncover new treatments to adequately control patient’s blood pressure.

DHC is funded by a generous gift left by the late Ray Dobney in collaboration with RPH Research Foundation, the University of Western Australia, and Royal Perth Hospital.

Complex Wound Healing

A/Prof Alan Kop, Senior Biomedical Engineer at Royal Perth Hospital is our 2020 Innovation and Impact Grant recipient.

At the RPH Research Foundation Symposium and Awards Day, he presented a research update on his project which uses 3D printing, scanning and stem cell therapy to heal complex wounds.

Nitrate and human health – villain or superhero?

Dr Catherine Bondonno, Senior Research Fellow at the Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute, is the Foundation's inaugural Emeritus Professor L.J Beilin AO Career Advancement Fellow.

At the RPH Research Foundation Symposium and Awards Day, she presented an update on her research which is focused on identifying dietary strategies to achieve and maintain cardiovascular and cognitive health.
