Research Overview
Professor Ganss is Head of the Cancer Microenvironment Laboratory at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and has held a professorial appointment at the University of Western Australia since 2006.
Professor Ganss obtained her PhD at the University of Heidelberg in 1994 and over the last 30 years has conducted internationally competitive cancer research in Germany, the US and Australia. Specifically, her research has focused on blood vessels as the interfase between immunology and cancer research. She has pioneered the concept of tumour vessel normalisation to open up cancers for improved immunotherapy.
Professor Ganss continues to develop innovative reagents for improved therapeutic intervention in cancer, with a specific focus on hard-to-treat cancers.
